Description

The Chrono Shifter is a large, time-bending aberration with a constantly shifting form of shimmering, translucent tissues. Its deep blue eyes glow with ancient wisdom, and its elongated limbs end in sharp, claw-like appendages. Moving with an eerie grace, it distorts the air around it, creating ripples and echoes of whispered voices and ticking clocks. This creature's presence can cause brief moments of time dilation or acceleration, making it a mesmerising and formidable entity in any encounter.

Traits

Temporal Awareness. The Chrono Shifter adds its Wisdom modifier to its initiative rolls.

 

Temporal Shift. As a reaction, when the Chrono Shifter takes damage, it can reduce the damage by half and teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.

 

Actions

Multiattack. The Chrono Shifter makes three attacks: two with its Temporal Claws and one with its Time Rend.

Temporal ClawsMelee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 4) slashing damage, and the target’s speed is reduced by 10 feet until the end of its next turn due to slowed time around it.

Time RendMelee Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (3d10 + 5) force damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw or lose its next action, as time skips around it.

Legendary Actions

The Chrono Shifter can take 3 legendary actions, choosing from the options below. Only one legendary action option can be used at a time and only at the end of another creature's turn. The Chrono Shifter regains spent legendary actions at the start of its turn.

Temporal Dodge (Costs 1 Action). The Chrono Shifter adds 4 to its AC against one attack that would hit it.

​

Time Step (Costs 2 Actions). The Chrono Shifter teleports up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space it can see.

​

Age Accelerate (Costs 3 Actions). The Chrono Shifter causes one creature it can see within 60 feet to make a DC 18 Constitution saving throw. On a failed save, the creature ages rapidly, receiving disadvantage on all ability checks, attack rolls, and saving throws for 1 minute. The creature can repeat the save at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.
